Overview
Welcome to Jordan! Discover incredible archeological ruins, natural and cultural wonder, taste delicious food, enjoy a safe haven in the Middle East where English is widely spoken. Connect with the Jordanian people. Jordan isn’t all about touring the past though, and you’ll only have to look to the lively streets of Aqaba on the Red Sea for world-class diving, or the downtown areas of Amman – the capital – for a burgeoning nightlife scene and up-coming modern art to boot. Amman is a great place to feel the beating pulse of Arabia and get a sense of the deep histories and cultural strands that inform Jordan as a whole. Sun-scorched and glowing deep orange and red under the Arabian sun, the breathtaking reaches of the Wadi Rum of southern Jordan are surely one of the most awesome natural wonders in the region. Carved from the rocky limestone escarpments that rise and fall dramatically on the eastern fringes of Aqaba, the famous valley is quintessential Jordanian backcountry. Huge bluffs of rock-ribbed mountains loom on the horizon; mythic petroglyphs from ancient Nabatean peoples hide in the nooks and crannies; camels groan, and climbers swing tenuously from ropes around the hoodoos. The Dead Sea carves its way through the heartlands of the Middle Eastern Levant. The lowest and most salty of the world’s ocean water bodies, it’s encircled by rising mountains and ochre-hued sand dunes, all of which reflect majestically upon the surface as the Arabian sun beats down.

Frequently Asked Questions & Tips
Amazing Winter in Jordan is a 10-day, 9-night tour that starts and ends at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. The route runs Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo and Bethany, the Dead Sea, Karak and Little Petra, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba and back to Amman.
The tour includes your arrival transfer with meet and assist at the airport, 9 nights on bed and breakfast including a night camping in Wadi Rum, sightseeing in an air-conditioned sedan with an English-speaking driver, entrance fees to the listed sites, a Bedouin lunch and dinner in Wadi Rum, and a 4-hour jeep tour in Wadi Rum.
The tour is offered in two classes, Deluxe and Luxury, which differ in the hotels used. The itinerary lists hotels such as the Ambassador in Amman, Dead Sea Spa Hotel, Hayat Zaman in Petra and Luxotel in Aqaba, or similar; ask us which properties apply to your chosen class and dates.
On arrival at Queen Alia International Airport our representative meets you with a name sign before customs and assists you with your visa. Visa rules depend on your nationality, so check your requirements before travelling; visa fees are not listed as included.
You arrive in the Petra area on day 4 after visiting Little Petra and spend all of day 5 exploring Petra itself. You enter through the Siq to the Treasury, the Street of Facades, the Theatre and the Colonnaded Street, with time afterwards for the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice.
Al-Khazneh, the Treasury, is the most famous tomb in Petra and the image most people associate with the site. Its name comes from a local legend that the urn at the top of the facade hid a pharaoh's treasure. You see it as you emerge from the Siq on your full day in Petra.
Petra involves a lot of walking on uneven ground. The optional climbs to the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice involve many steps, but the views are well worth it. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, and you can pace the day to suit your fitness.
On day 6 you enjoy a 4-hour jeep tour of Wadi Rum's red desert, known from Lawrence of Arabia and films such as Star Wars and The Martian, with a freshly prepared barbecue lunch. The jeep stops at each site so you can explore natural rock bridges, and at sunset you are taken to a high viewpoint before a night at a desert camp.
You spend one night camping in Wadi Rum, with a Bedouin lunch and dinner included. With no light pollution, the desert night sky is one of the highlights of the trip.
Day 3 is a free day at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth's surface. You can float effortlessly in the salty water, try the famous mineral mud or book a spa treatment at the hotel. The water is so dense that swimming is more like floating.
On day 2 you visit St. George Church in Madaba with its famous mosaic map of the Holy Land, Mount Nebo where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land, and Bethany, believed to be the site of Jesus' baptism, before continuing to the Dead Sea.
Karak is an immense Crusader castle on the King's Highway, which you visit on day 4 on the way south from the Dead Sea to Petra. The same day includes Little Petra, a smaller Nabatean site that gives a first taste of Petra itself.
You have two nights in Aqaba on the Red Sea, with day 8 completely free. Relax on the beach, explore the town, or book an optional snorkelling cruise or glass-bottom boat ride over coral reefs and sunken wrecks including an airplane, an army tank and a ship.
Winter is a comfortable time to explore Jordan's sites on foot, with milder temperatures for walking in Petra and touring Wadi Rum, while Aqaba on the Red Sea stays dry and pleasant for beach days. Desert nights can be cold, so pack warm layers for the Wadi Rum camp.
Breakfast is included every day, and in Wadi Rum a Bedouin lunch and dinner are included. Other lunches and dinners are at your own expense, including the optional lunch inside Petra.
Sightseeing is by air-conditioned sedan with an English-speaking driver who has general knowledge of the sites. The itinerary also describes an English-speaking guide on the Madaba, Mount Nebo and Karak days; ask us to confirm the guiding arrangements for your chosen class.
