Netherlands & Belgium River Cruise: 7-Night Dusseldorf Round-Trip

It is a 7-night round-trip river cruise from Dusseldorf aboard the MS Cruce Rio. It sails the Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt through the canals, art cities and windmill landscapes of the Low Countries. Meals, guided shore excursions and an English-speaking cruise manager are included.

From Dusseldorf the ship calls at Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Ghent, Brussels, Antwerp and Nijmegen before returning to Dusseldorf. That covers the major Dutch and Flemish cities in a single week, without changing hotels.

Boarding in Dusseldorf starts from 4:00 PM on Day 1, and there is a welcome reception when you arrive. You have free time to explore the city before dinner and your first night on board. Because the cruise is a round trip, it also ends in Dusseldorf.

The ship arrives in Amsterdam on the morning of Day 2, docking at Zaandam, Haarlem or Coenhaven. An included guided canal boat tour shows you the city's canals and historic houses. The afternoon is at leisure, and the ship stays overnight in port, so you can enjoy Amsterdam in the evening too.

The ship reaches Rotterdam at midday on Day 3. The city is known for its bold modern architecture and cultural life, including the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum and the Kunsthal. An optional walking tour is available, and the afternoon is free.

On Day 4 the ship arrives in Ghent in the morning. Ghent is a medieval city with a network of canals and a beautifully preserved historic centre. An optional walking tour is offered, the afternoon is at leisure, and that evening the Captain's Gala Dinner is held on board.

Day 5 includes a panoramic tour of Brussels, taking in the Royal Palace, the European Quarter, the Manneken Pis and the city's Art Nouveau architecture. The afternoon is at leisure to explore cafes, gardens and city life on your own.

Antwerp is Belgium's largest city in Flanders and a world diamond centre, also known for fashion and its art heritage. On Day 6 an included guided walking tour takes you through the historic centre, with time afterwards to explore on your own.

There are three categories. Category C is on the Lower Deck with a fixed window. Category B is on the Middle Deck with a panorama window that opens. Category A is on the Upper Deck with a French balcony. All staterooms have a private bathroom, individually controlled air conditioning and river views.

The fare includes your cabin, and full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) throughout. It also covers welcome and captain's events including the gala dinner, guided shore excursions as listed in the itinerary (such as the Amsterdam canal tour and the Brussels and Antwerp tours), an English-speaking cruise manager, onboard entertainment, port charges, and Wi-Fi where available.

International flights, travel insurance, gratuities and personal expenses are not included. Drinks outside the included selection and optional excursions, such as the walking tours in Rotterdam and Ghent, are also extra. Port and tourist taxes of US$95 per person and a fuel surcharge of US$45 per person are added to the fare.

Flights are not included. Because the cruise starts and ends in Dusseldorf, a simple round-trip ticket to Dusseldorf works well. Boarding opens at 4:00 PM on Day 1, so arriving that morning or the day before gives you a relaxed start.

A 25% deposit secures your cabin, and the balance is due 65 days before departure. Port and tourist taxes and the fuel surcharge are included in your invoice.

Children are booked in two age bands, based on age at departure: under 5, and from 5 up to (but not including) 12. Child fares are confirmed on request, so send us the ages and your preferred sailing and we will quote.
