La Dolce Vita Orient Express: Italian Swing

It is a four-day, three-night round trip from Rome aboard La Dolce Vita Orient Express built around golf, pairing rounds at some of Italy's finest courses with nights on board the train. You play by day and travel, dine and sleep on the train, so there is no hotel to change.

The price covers your cabin for three nights, all meals on board with menus curated by three-Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck, selected beverages including drinks served with meals, the off-train experiences described in the itinerary, live entertainment in the Bar Car and dedicated cabin steward service throughout the journey.

Travel to Rome and home again is excluded, as are personal expenses, gratuities, travel insurance and anything not expressly listed in the itinerary. Any extra nights in Rome at either end of the journey are quoted separately, and we are glad to arrange them with transfers.

It is a links-style course at Fasano in Apulia, laid out above the Adriatic among ancient olive trees, so the sea is in view from much of the round. The train reaches southern Italy overnight, and you play there on day two before returning on board for dinner as the train heads north.

It is a private course set in the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, threading between vineyards, old woodland and cypress ridges. A deposit of 30 percent of the tour price confirms your cabin and is non-refundable. The balance is due 125 days before departure, and bookings made within 125 days of departure are payable in full at the time of booking. Yes. Sole occupancy of a cabin is offered on request with a supplement over the sharing fare, and solo golfers fit easily into a journey where meals and the Bar Car are shared. Cabins for single use are few, so request one as early as you can for the date you want.

Bring your golf shoes and course clothing, plus smart-casual wear for dinner in the Restaurant Car and the Bar Car in the evenings. Cabin storage is limited, so keep to one case each alongside the golf bag, and a light layer is useful for early starts and Tuscan evenings.
