Overview
For more than fifty years the Indian Pacific has linked the two oceans that give it its name, and this four-day, three-night crossing from Sydney to Perth is the classic way to ride it. Your journey leaves Sydney's Central Station in the afternoon and climbs through the sandstone cliffs and valleys of the Blue Mountains before you sit down to your first dinner on board.
Along the way we step off the train at some of the country's most evocative places. Wake up in Broken Hill, the historic Silver City, then spend an evening in and around Adelaide choosing from curated food and wine experiences - from the vineyards of McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills to an after-hours dinner inside the Central Market. Next comes the Nullarbor Plain and the longest dead-straight stretch of railway on earth, a stop at the near-deserted railway settlement of Cook, and an evening at Rawlinna on the edge of Australia's largest sheep station, where you dine beneath the stars in the warmer months.
Everything is included: your private cabin, all eight meals, Australian wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, and every Off Train Experience. Your final morning brings the green hills of Western Australia's Avon Valley and a relaxed brunch before you pull into Perth.

Your Cabin
Gold Single Cabin - A compact private sleeper for solo travellers with a bed that converts to a seat by day. Shower and toilet facilities are shared, located at the end of the carriage. Includes all meals, beverages and Off Train Experiences.
Gold Twin Cabin - Our most popular cabin, with a private en suite and upper and lower berths that convert into a three-seat lounge by day. Includes all-inclusive dining in the restaurant carriage, Australian wines, beers and spirits, and all Off Train Experiences.
Gold Premium Twin Cabin - Newly designed contemporary cabins inspired by the colours of the outback, with walnut timber, brass details and Indigenous-print upholstery. A private compact en suite, exclusive lounge and dining carriages, four-course dinners and premium beverages are included.
Platinum Twin Cabin - Almost twice the size of a Gold cabin, with a lounge by day and double or twin beds by night, a full en suite, panoramic windows on both sides and access to the exclusive Platinum Club. Five-course dinners, station transfers and a Sydney Harbour lunch cruise before boarding are included.
Aurora Suite - Double the size of a Platinum cabin, with a separate bedroom and fixed custom-sized bed, lounge and en suite. Enjoy butler service, a personalised in-suite bar, in-room dining, vintage Champagne and exclusive Off Train Experiences.
Australis Suite - The most spacious suite on board at three times the size of a Platinum cabin, with a separate bedroom, full lounge, writing desk, personal bar and double-vanity en suite. Butler service, a private chauffeur to and from the train and exclusive Off Train Experiences are included.

Sydney - Blue Mountains
Your transcontinental journey begins at Sydney's Central Station, where the Indian Pacific departs in the early afternoon. As the city falls behind, the train climbs into the Blue Mountains with their towering sandstone cliffs and deep, forested valleys. Settle into your cabin or meet your fellow travellers over a drink in the lounge.
In the evening, take your seat in the dining carriage for a regionally inspired dinner matched with Australian wines, then enjoy a nightcap before the train rolls on westward through the night. (D)
Broken Hill - Adelaide
Early this morning we arrive in Broken Hill, the famous Silver City. Choose a guided walk through the town's heritage streets with local storytellers, ending with morning tea at the historic Trades Hall, or a lively morning of outback entertainment, a hands-on cooking session with native ingredients and bush spices, and a scenic coach tour of the town.
Back on board, breakfast and lunch are served as the train passes the southern end of the Flinders Ranges. By late afternoon you reach Adelaide, where you choose your evening: a McLaren Vale wine tasting followed by dinner at a clifftop restaurant above Gulf St Vincent (seasonal); a vineyard tasting in the Adelaide Hills and dinner in historic Hahndorf; a behind-the-scenes brewery tour, city drive, teppanyaki dinner and twilight walk to Adelaide Oval; or an after-hours evening inside the Adelaide Central Market with butter-making, a cheese and wine masterclass and a private dinner. Suite guests enjoy an exclusive evening at Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills. Rejoin the train late in the evening as it continues west. (B, L, D)
Nullarbor Plain - Cook - Rawlinna
Today belongs to the Nullarbor Plain. Watch the horizon stretch in every direction as the Indian Pacific runs along the longest straight section of railway track in the world. In the afternoon the train pauses at Cook, founded in 1917 to support the railway and once home to dozens of track workers, now a near-ghost town with only a handful of residents.
In the evening we stop at Rawlinna, a remote outpost on the edge of Australia's largest sheep station. From September to May you dine outdoors at a long-table dinner beneath the outback stars; in the cooler months, gather around a roaring bonfire with drinks and canapes. (B, L, D)
Avon Valley - Perth
Wake to morning light over the rolling green hills of Western Australia's Avon Valley, a gentle contrast to the outback behind you. Enjoy a leisurely brunch on board as the train makes its final approach, arriving in Perth in the afternoon after 4,352 km from coast to coast. (B)

Terms & Conditions
Fares for this journey are sold in different fare types, and the payment, change and cancellation conditions depend on the fare type booked. Your Palace Tours specialist will confirm the exact conditions of your fare in writing before you book.
- Flexible fare: paid in full at booking; fully refundable for cancellations received at least 24 hours before departure; date changes are free of charge.
- Everyday fare: a deposit of AUD 1,000 per guest (Gold and Gold Premium cabins) or AUD 1,500 per guest (Platinum) is due at booking, with the balance due 45 days before departure. Cancellations more than 45 days before departure forfeit the deposit amount; within 45 days of departure the full fare is charged. Date changes are permitted up to 45 days before departure for a fee of AUD 100 per guest.
- Advance Purchase fare: paid in full at booking. If booked more than 60 days before departure, a full refund is available for cancellations made within 14 days of the booking confirmation; after that the fare is non-refundable. Date changes are permitted up to 90 days before departure for a fee of AUD 250 per guest.
Suite fares carry their own deposit and cancellation conditions, which we will confirm with your quote. Amended dates must fall within 12 months of the original departure and are subject to availability and any fare difference. Timetables and departure dates are subject to change.

- Platinum: exclusive Platinum Club carriage, five-course dinners, transfers at the start and end of the journey for guests within 60 km of the terminal, a two-course lunch cruise on Sydney Harbour before boarding, 90 kg luggage allowance and priority luggage check-in
