Overview
Your journey crosses the whole continent, from the Indian Ocean at Perth to the Pacific at Sydney, aboard the legendary Indian Pacific. Over five days and four nights you trade city skylines for the red earth of the goldfields, the treeless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain and the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world.
This is far more than a train ride. Each day brings a stop worth stepping off for: a morning among the gold-mining giants of Kalgoorlie, a night under brilliant outback skies at the tiny settlement of Cook, an evening of food and wine in a heritage cellar in the Barossa Valley, a choice of adventures in the Silver City of Broken Hill, and a final morning among the sandstone cliffs and eucalypt valleys of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains.
Between stops, you settle into your private cabin, watch the landscape change from the lounge and enjoy regionally inspired menus with Australian wines, beers and spirits included throughout. Your off-train experiences are part of the fare too, so the only decisions left are which excursion to choose and when to raise a glass.

Your Cabin
Gold Single Cabin - A private cabin for one, with a seat by day that converts to a bed at night. Showers and toilets are shared and located at the end of the carriage. Meals are served in the Gold restaurant car with drinks included.
Gold Twin Cabin - A private cabin with a three-seat lounge by day that converts to upper and lower berths at night, plus a private en suite. Includes power outlets, in-cabin music and audio commentary, with meals in the Gold restaurant car.
Gold Premium Twin Cabin - Newly designed cabins finished in walnut timber and polished brass with Indigenous-print upholstery and a compact private en suite. Guests have exclusive use of the Gold Premium lounge and dining carriage, with four-course dinners and premium Australian drinks included.
Platinum Twin Cabin - Nearly twice the size of a Gold cabin, with a choice of double or twin beds, a lounge set-up by day and windows on both sides of the train. The en suite has a separate shower, and meals are served in the exclusive Platinum Club carriage, including five-course dinners and Champagne.
Aurora Suite - Around double the size of a Platinum cabin, with a separate bedroom, fixed bed, en suite and wardrobe. Includes butler service, a personalised in-suite bar, in-suite dining, Platinum Club access and exclusive off-train experiences.
Australis Suite - The largest accommodation on board, about three times the size of a Platinum cabin, with a separate bedroom, en suite with double vanity, writing desk and wardrobe. Includes butler service, a private chauffeur to and from the train, Platinum Club access and exclusive off-train experiences.

Perth
Your journey begins in Perth with a welcome gathering alongside your fellow travellers before you board the Indian Pacific. As the sun sinks in the west, the train sets off on its crossing from one ocean to the other. Settle into your cabin, get to know your companions in the lounge and enjoy your first dinner on board. Kalgoorlie - Cook
Watch the sun come up over the outback before the train pulls into Kalgoorlie, the largest outback town in Australia. Choose your morning off-train experience to discover the town's gold-rush past and its working present, including the enormous Super Pit mine, with morning refreshments included. Back on board by mid-morning for brunch, spend a relaxed afternoon watching the Nullarbor Plain roll by as the train crosses into South Australia and a new time zone.
Late in the evening you step off at Cook, a railway outpost that was once busy and is now home to only a handful of people. Far from any city lights, a guide helps you pick out the Southern Cross and other constellations in an extraordinarily clear night sky. Then it is back on board for a regionally inspired dinner as the train continues east. (B,L,D)
Barossa Valley
This morning the train travels through the farming heartland of South Australia, with the Flinders Ranges, Spencer Gulf and Adelaide Plains passing your window. Breakfast and lunch are served on board. In the afternoon you leave the train at Long Plains and travel by coach to the Barossa Valley, one of the world's great wine regions.
At the historic Seppeltsfield Estate, an evening dinner is served in the vintage cellar, created especially for Indian Pacific guests, with a food-and-wine pairing and the dramatic 'Firing of the Barrel'. Platinum guests also taste a rare 100-year-old tawny. After dinner you return to the train as it heads east through the night. (B,L,D)
Broken Hill
Overnight the train crosses into New South Wales, arriving in Broken Hill, the Silver City and Australia's first heritage-listed city. After breakfast, pick the adventure that suits you: the region's mining story at the Miners' Memorial and Sulphide Street Railway and Historical Museum, an underground tour of the historic Day Dream Mine, a painting session in Pro Hart's original studio, a native-ingredients class and cook-off with a local chef, or a colourful, entertaining tour of the main street led by a larger-than-life outback drag queen.
Rejoin the train for lunch and watch the scenery of regional New South Wales unfold. Tonight is your last dinner on board, a fitting moment to toast your crossing of the continent. (B,L,D)
Blue Mountains - Sydney
Wake in the Blue Mountains, a World Heritage-listed landscape of towering sandstone cliffs and eucalypt-filled valleys. After breakfast you say goodbye to the Indian Pacific and set out on your final off-train experience. At Scenic World, float over the ravines on the Skyway, drop into the rainforest on the Cableway or ride the steepest passenger railway in the world. You can instead join a guided walk along the clifftops, or enjoy high tea at the historic Hydro Majestic Hotel with sweeping mountain views.
Your journey ends aboard a chartered train, hosted by your Indian Pacific crew, into Sydney Central Station. If you would rather arrive earlier, you can stay on the Indian Pacific and reach Sydney before lunch. (B,L)

Terms & Conditions
Fares for this journey are sold in different fare types, and the payment, change and cancellation conditions depend on the fare type booked. Your Palace Tours specialist will confirm the exact conditions of your fare in writing before you book.
- Flexible fare: paid in full at booking; fully refundable for cancellations received at least 24 hours before departure; date changes are free of charge.
- Everyday fare: a deposit of AUD 1,000 per guest (Gold and Gold Premium cabins) or AUD 1,500 per guest (Platinum) is due at booking, with the balance due 45 days before departure. Cancellations more than 45 days before departure forfeit the deposit amount; within 45 days of departure the full fare is charged. Date changes are permitted up to 45 days before departure for a fee of AUD 100 per guest.
- Advance Purchase fare: paid in full at booking. If booked more than 60 days before departure, a full refund is available for cancellations made within 14 days of the booking confirmation; after that the fare is non-refundable. Date changes are permitted up to 90 days before departure for a fee of AUD 250 per guest.
Suite fares carry their own deposit and cancellation conditions, which we will confirm with your quote. Amended dates must fall within 12 months of the original departure and are subject to availability and any fare difference. Timetables and departure dates are subject to change.

Off-Train Experiences
- Kalgoorlie: The Super Pit - Refreshments and photos beside a giant haul truck at Hannans North Tourist Mine, then a mine-spec bus tour through the Super Pit's workshop areas and viewing platforms to watch the huge mining trucks at work. Enclosed shoes, long sleeves and long pants required; guests must return a zero alcohol breath reading.
- Kalgoorlie: Golden Treasures - An early start at Hannans North Tourist Mine with more than 30 exhibits, gold panning, a game of Two-Up and a close look at the super trucks, plus morning refreshments with a local storyteller and a stop at the Super Pit Lookout.
- Kalgoorlie: Curious Kalgoorlie - A drive around town with a stop at the Super Pit Lookout, time on the main street, a visit to the Museum of the Goldfields (including a climb of the original drilling derrick), light refreshments and a local timber workshop.
- Kalgoorlie: Kalgoorlie Golden Horizons - A scenic flight over the Super Pit and town, followed by morning tea at the historic Paddy Hannan's Mine. Reserved for Aurora and Australis Suite guests. (optional upgrade at extra cost)
- Cook: Nullarbor Stargazing - A late-evening stop at the near-deserted railway town of Cook, where a guide points out the Southern Cross and other constellations under skies free of light pollution, with a nightcap by the bonfire.
