Britannic Explorer: The Wonders of Wales

It is a 4-day, 3-night round trip from London Victoria. You board on day 1, spend days 2 and 3 exploring Wales, and arrive back at London Victoria in the early morning of day 4 after a farewell breakfast through Oxfordshire and the Chilterns.

The train leaves London through the Cotswolds at golden hour and heads into Wales, waking on day 2 along the Pembrokeshire coast before a stop at Llandrindod Wells. Day 3 brings the train to Machynlleth on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park before returning to London.

On day 2 you disembark at Llandrindod Wells for a guided hike through the quiet valleys of the Welsh heartland, with a picnic hamper of local produce among lavender fields. For a gentler day, the Guest Experience team can suggest relaxed alternatives.

Machynlleth sits at the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park and is known for its Museum of Modern Art, creativity and food. The on-board concierge offers a curated list of excursions, including a range of active pursuits in the surrounding countryside.

No. The valley hike and the active excursions in Machynlleth are optional, and gentler choices are available. Many guests also spend time in the Wellness Suite or the Observation Car taking in the scenery.

Double and Twin Suites each have about 7.8 sq m. The Double has a sofa-bed that your steward makes up at night, plus a chair, fold-out marquetry table, wardrobes, marble vanity and en-suite shower. In the Twin, two armchairs become beds in the evening. The Grand Suite is the most spacious choice.
