The package covers 8 nights of hotel accommodation with daily breakfast, train tickets with assigned seats between Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastian, and an arrival pick-up at the airport or train station in Barcelona. The Deluxe inclusions also list a hop-on hop-off bus pass in Madrid and Barcelona, so you can see the main sights at your own pace.

It is an independent travel package, not a guided group tour. We book the hotels, the trains between cities and your arrival transfer at a good price, and you plan your own days. Optional excursions and discounted city tours can be added through us if you would like some guided time.

The itinerary starts with 3 nights in Barcelona, continues by train to Madrid for 3 nights, and then travels by train to San Sebastian on the Basque coast for 2 nights. On day 9 you check out after breakfast and take the final train of the package.

Deluxe class lists the hop-on hop-off bus tour in Madrid and Barcelona; ask us to confirm the bus pass when you choose Luxury.

Yes. On day 1 we pick you up at the Barcelona airport or train station on arrival and drive you to your hotel. Hotel rooms on this package are generally reserved from 3 pm; early check-in can be requested but is subject to availability.

All city-to-city travel is by train, and the tickets are booked for you with assigned seats: Barcelona to Madrid on day 4, Madrid to San Sebastian on day 7, and the final train from San Sebastian on day 9. Luxury class travellers ride in first class.

The bus pass lets you ride between the main attractions and get off wherever you like, so it doubles as transport and an orientation tour. In Madrid it is a 48-hour pass that you can activate on the afternoon you arrive or the next morning, and in Barcelona you can use it over your first days in the city.

Barcelona's highlights are all reachable by the hop-on hop-off bus: the Sagrada Familia and other Gaudi works such as Casa Mila (La Pedrera) and Park Guell, Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya, the Cathedral, the Palau de la Musica Catalana, Camp Nou and the FC Barcelona museum, Barceloneta beach and the Magic Fountain of Montjuic.

With the bus pass you can visit the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Retiro Park and Plaza Cibeles, plus the Prado and Reina Sofia museums, home to some of Spain's most famous works of art. Gran Via is ideal for an evening stroll on the day you arrive from Barcelona.

Yes. Optional excursions from Madrid to Toledo, Avila, Segovia and other historic towns are available through us at special rates, or you can book them yourself once you are in Spain. Your third day in Madrid is completely free, which makes it the natural day for an excursion.

San Sebastian is one of Spain's most fashionable beach resorts, set on the crescent-shaped Bay of La Concha between the Urgull and Igeldo hills. It is famous for pintxos, the Basque version of tapas, and for its many Michelin-starred restaurants, so it is a highlight for anyone who travels for food and scenery.

Your full day in San Sebastian is free for walking the beach and the old town, or you can add a trip to Bilbao or a visit to the small fishing villages along the Basque coast. Ask us for the optional excursions available when you book so we can reserve them alongside your package.

On day 9 you check out after breakfast and take the train from San Sebastian, with the itinerary ending in Barcelona or Madrid so you can fly home from a major airport. Extra hotel nights before or after the package are not included, but we are happy to add them or add another destination if you ask when booking.

The package does not include domestic or international airfare, travel insurance or visa fees, personal items such as laundry and souvenirs, additional hotel nights before or after the package, or anything not specifically listed as included. Optional excursions are priced separately.

A deposit of 25 percent of the package price secures your booking. The balance is due 30 days before your departure date. Please also review the cancellation terms in your booking documents before paying the deposit.

Yes, child pricing is set up in two bands based on age at departure: under 5 years, and 5 to 11 years. Children aged 12 and over travel at the adult fare. Tell us the ages of your children when you ask for a quote so we can arrange the right rooms and train seats.

Yes, single occupancy is available at a higher fare than the per person sharing price, because you have the hotel room to yourself. The single price for your chosen departure and class can be confirmed on this page or by our travel specialists.
