Wild Scotland is a wilderness adventure created with specialists in private, skill-based escapes in the wild. Instead of formal touring, the days are spent foraging, learning traditional and coastal survival skills and sharing fire-cooked feasts, returning each evening to the comfort of the train.

On day 1 the train heads west through Falkirk to Craigendoran and along the West Highland Line past Loch Lomond, Glen Falloch, Crianlarich, Bridge of Orchy and Rannoch Moor to Spean Bridge. Day 3 is spent at Wemyss Bay and the Isle of Bute before the return to Edinburgh.

On day 2 expert guides lead your pre-chosen activities, from a ropes course to a hike through rugged terrain. You forage the flora of a hidden island, learn traditional skills and gather for a fire-cooked picnic of seasonal ingredients, and the brave can take a cold-water swim in a loch or river.

On day 3, after a leisurely morning on board, you meet the guiding team at Wemyss Bay and cross to the Isle of Bute aboard a WWII landing craft. You return to Wemyss Bay in the early evening for the final night on board.

On the coast day you forage for sea herbs and shellfish and learn coastal survival skills, then feast on lobster, crab and scallops, dived for by the team and cooked over open flames. You can swim in the sea or simply rest by the waves.

No. You choose your own activities and set your own pace, with options pre-selected before the journey. Swimming and the more active choices are optional, and you can always relax instead.

Three cabin types are offered: a Double Cabin with a matrimonial bed, a Twin Cabin with two twin beds, and the Grand Suite. Our specialists can help you choose and check availability for the June departure.

The fare includes three nights aboard with dedicated cabin service, all meals including breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners, all beverages throughout, all guided experiences and excursions, onboard entertainment and use of the spa car.

Bring outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear for the land and coast days, plus swimwear if you plan to swim. For evenings aboard, dinners alternate between smart casual and formal nights, when a dark suit, tuxedo or kilt is customary for gentlemen and a cocktail dress or tartan for ladies.

Each evening you return to the train for a hot shower and dinner in the dining cars celebrating Scotland's natural larder, followed by entertainment in the Observation Car. Most nights the train stables in a quiet station, so you sleep to stillness.

Afternoon tea is served with the first views of Loch Lomond, followed by the climb up waterfall-lined Glen Falloch and the crossing of Rannoch Moor. The train then stables at Spean Bridge for the night.

A deposit of 25% of the fare secures your cabin, and the balance is due 125 days before departure. Our team confirms the exact amounts in writing when you book.
