The journey will begin from Dublin Heuston Station in the early afternoon, lunch will be served onboard the Grand Hibernian before disembarking at Belfast for the infamous Black Taxi Tour that will explore the city's tumultuous past and vibrant present. Afterwards, get ready to experience the award winning Titanic Experience with full scale reconstructions and interactive features. Returning to the train for captivating local entertainment and dinner.
Journey to the historic viking port of Waterford, where you will receive an exclusive tour and afternoon tea at Curraghmore house.Once home to generations of the Waterford family, the property has over 2,500 acres of formal gardens,woodland and grazing fields. You'll then be escorted to the Bishop's palace where the director hosts a private after-hours tour. Marvel at the finest collection of 17th century irish silver, and discover the history of glassmaking with a presentation featuring the oldest piece of waterford crystal in the world. Return to the train for sumptuous dinner, followed by a performance from local musicians.
A leisurely breakfast is served as the train travels north and returns to Dublin Heuston station. Disembark and transfer to a hotel for your overnight stay.
Rejoin the Belmond Grand Hibernian in the early afternoon. Indulge in a sumptuous Irish afternoon tea as the train makes its way through abundant landscapes to Cork. Arriving at The Jameson Experience, join a resident expert for an early evening tasting and tour of the distillery. Anticipate dinner and entertainment back aboard the train.
Disembark after Breakfast to visit Blarney Castle, home to the legendary Blarney Stone. Enjoy a private tour before pausing for a morning coffee within the magnificent grounds. Lunch is served as the train continues west through emerald hills towards Killarney. Ride on a traditional jaunting car through the national park to scenic Ross Castle, where you'll take a boat trip around the islands of the lake. Back on board for dinner and traditional céili dancing
Enjoy a leisurely morning on board as the train travels north towards Galway, or choose to disembark for a tour of the dramatic Cliffs of Moher.
In Galway, lunch is served at one of the city's convivial restaurants. Revel in a traditional Irish experience at a charming local pub where you'll learn to play the bodhran ( Irish drum) and to pull your own pint of Guinness, followed by an Irish dance. Afterwards, step into the city to explore at your leisure.
Alternatively, spend the entire afternoon soaking up Galway's bohemian charm at your own pace.
Breakfast is served en route to the leafy Georgian town of Westport.
Disembark for a scenic drive through County Mayo. Ashford Castle, is located in the heart of Connemara National Park. Enjoy your lunch before you begin a guided walk in the estate's breathtaking grounds along with a private falconry display.
Take a short transfer to the home of Joe & Mary Ann Joyce and enjoy an exhilarating sheepdog trial featuring the emblematic Connemara Blackface Sheep. Afterwards, head to the heart of killary Harbour to visit the Sheep and Wool centre, before savouring the breaktaking views and perfect photo opportunities of the region's outstanding natural beauty.
Rejoin the train in Westport in time for pre-dinner drinks.
Breakfast is served as the train continues to Dublin, its final destination. Disembark for your onward travel arrangements.
Your train includes luxurious and comfortable cabins as well as an observation and restaurant car. There are 16 twin cabins and 4 double cabins available. Cabins are en-suite and include a writing desk, wardrobe, and chair. Each carriage is themed, based on an Irish county. Double cabins can connect to twin cabins, offering options for families. There is also a limited mobility cabin available.
Cabins have limited space, therefore we recommend each guest travels with one suitcase and one carry-on bag.
For daytime excursions and relaxing on board, we suggest casual, comfortable attire. In the evening, most gentlemen were a jacket and tie for dinner although it is not required..
We recommend you arrange suitable insurance to cover personal belongings, cancellation/interruption, medical and luggage. Details of cancellation policies can be found in our booking conditions.
You must have a valid passport that will remain valid beyond the duration of your journey. Depending on which country issues your passport, you may need a visa for entry into Ireland and Northern Ireland (UK). Please check with your travel agent or government agency before travelling.
Belmond Grand Hibernian offers a wheelchair accessible cabin. However, those with restricted mobility are asked to contact us directly to discuss the suitability of the journey.
A first aid kit is carried on board for emergency use. If it becomes apparent that a doctor is required, please inform the Train Manager who will arrange for the passenger to alight at the next station enabling medical attention.
Special diets can be accommodated. Please be sure to tell us in advance of any allergies, food related or otherwise.
